King Kong

When: 19 Dec 2005 (Monday)

Where: GV Plaza Singapura

What: Action/Adventure, Romance, Thriller and Remake

Synopsis: Flamboyant, foolhardy documentary filmmaker, Carl Denham, sails off to remote Skull Island to film his latest epic with leading lady, Ann Darrow. Native warriors kidnap Ann to use as a sacrifice as they summon "Kong" with the local witch doctor. But instead of devouring Ann, Kong saves her. Kong is eventually taken back to New York where he searches high and low for Ann, eventually winding up at the top of the Empire State Building, facing off against a fleet of World War I fighter planes.

My Take: Not really my genre of movies but it turned out nicer than expected. The ending was very sob-inducing, much to the amusement of Joo, with me sniffing and shaking away reaching into my bag for tissue and all. Naomi Watts look uncannily like Nicole Kidman though... Kinda weird. Adrien Brody's broodingly handsome, in a totally unfathomable way - I can't stop staring at his hooked nose. How can something so warped add so much charm? Sigh...  A trifle over 3 hours, it's smooth transitory pace makes it endurable and enjoyable. I thought the dinosaurs and the whole jurassic park deal a bit ott though... Kinda obscures the subject title...
